Using muddy trails wrecks the trail. It leaves ruts, contributes to erosion, and creates an unusable trail that is difficult to repair. If you are leaving a visible track, the trail is too muddy to use. A good rule of thumb is to wait at least 24 hours after rain ends before even checking the trail status.
